For the second leg of our 5 weeks around the world trip, we flew from Zurich to Muscat in Oman Air Business Class. The checkin process was smooth. No waiting time at the Business counter, where a nice lady checked our bags directly to our final destination, Dubai.
The aircraft on this route was an Airbus A330.
Oman Air Business Class
The welcome on board by the cabin crew was good and as soon as we were seated, we were offered a drink.
The flight was only about 6 hours and 15 minutes. A and Miss C immediately started watching movies from the inflight entertainment system, while we enjoyed a glass of Taittinger Champagne. The Oman Air amenity kit caught my attention because it was stuffed with Amouage products, which I’m totally in love with.
The menu offered a choice of 3 starters, 4 main courses and 3 desserts. We opted for the arabic menu and the kids took various dishes.
The choice of wine was fair. A glass of Champagne to start, red wine to pair with the dinner and a glass of dessert wine to end the meal sounded perfect.
The dishes were nicely presented in quality tableware.
The kids may or may not have finished their movie. Fact is, they slept all through to Muscat in a nice flat bed.
We did not watch any movie, but the entertainment system seemed nice. It has a special section for children. We followed the flight progress on the screen and closed the eyes for a short nap before touching down in Muscat.
The flight from Muscat to Dubai was operated by a Boeing 737-800 where we occupied the first row. Flight time was only 50 minutes but we were served a full breakfast.
Pros and cons:
+ friendly staff
+ comfortable seat convertible into a flat bed
+ good choice of food and wines, well presented
+ quality amenity kit
– cabin crew attentiveness needs improvement in order to reach the level of other major Gulf carriers
– no gifts for children
All in all in was a very pleasant experience and we would not hesitate to fly again with Oman Air.
