Are you heading to Boston and wondering what activities your kids are likely to enjoy too? Read on to find some inspiration on what to do in Boston with kids.
1. Boston Freedom Trail
The Freedom Trail is a 2.5 mile urban walking trail, marked with a bricked red line, taking you past 16 sites which are the backbone of the American Revolutionary story. You can read about it on our previous post here.
2. Shop at Cambridgeside Galleria Mall
It may not be the fanciest mall ever. But if it’s raining and you want to do some retail therapy you can spend a couple of hours here. Plus there’s a Cheesecake Factory when you’re done shopping!
3. Eat a lobster at James Hook
We ate here a few years ago and I always remembered the tasty lobster I had here. Nowadays it still tastes good but it is no more the bargain it used to be. Maybe the lobster roll is a better choice! You can eat on a tiny table in the mobile home or takeout. Their terrace is nice when the weather is permitting.

4. Watch a Boston Celtics Game at TD Garden
As Europeans we are not at all familiar with such big sports events attracting thousands of supporters every game day. Even if you’re not into Basketball you have to attend a game which is a great mix of top level sport and entertainment show.
5. Visit Harvard University
Visit Harvard so you can tell your friends you went to Harvard -ha!
You can walk through the different university grounds, see the beautiful old buildings and watch the students rushing to their lectures. If you wish, you can get a guided tour of Harvard. And watch out for squirrels!
Besides the university, Cambridge is a nice little town with shops, bars and restaurants. We had a burger at Shake Shack and later a coffee at Starbucks (which is one of the nicest we’ve ever seen). Check out the first floor!
We think the best time to visit Boston with Kids is late spring or early autumn. This time we flew there on Halloween and were welcomed by the first snow…
