Constance Halaveli – Ultimate Luxury Retreat in the Maldives
As returning guests to Constance Halaveli we were greeted with a welcome back by the Constance representative at the airport. After checking our luggage for the Transmaldivian Airways flight to Halaveli we were whisked to the Seaplane terminal by Constance private shuttle. As we were arriving in the late afternoon and therefore catching the last plane to Halaveli, we had no chance to experience the lounge this time. Depending on when your flight is arriving, you may have to wait a little bit before the seaplane flies out.
After a short 25 minutes flight to the North Ari Atoll, the resort was in sight and we touched down in the lagoon. A speedboat took us to the jetty. In the meantime we were given a lovely smelling cold towel to refresh. Here again, the staff members welcomed us as if they knew us although it has been 5 years since our last stay.
During checkin, we enjoyed a small drink and were soon taken to the overwater villa by buggy.
Constance Halaveli – Overwater Villa
Overlooking the turquoise water, the villa is very spacious and ensures total privacy. The sleeping room has a seating area and a very comfortable bed. There’s a mini bar with drinks and snacks as well as a wine cooler with 8 bottles, a Nespresso machine and a nice choice of Dilmah teas for your comfort. Two bottles of complimentary water are provided daily.
- The villa service was outstanding!
- Welcome treats.
The bathroom has a free standing bath tub, a separate shower and 2 dressings. Bathrobes and slippers are provided and also plentiful amenities.
The private deck with a plunge pool, 2 sun loungers and a table to enjoy breakfast/ in room dining is our favorite part of the villa. There’s also a direct access to the crystal clear lagoon where you can snorkel in the beautiful maldivian underwaterworld. Rays, black tip reef sharks and all kinds of colored fish greeted us on our daily snorkeling outings. Click here for a video
- Maldivian sunsets are the best
Constance Halaveli – The Food
We were booked on half board and didn’t regret our choice. The food at Halaveli is outstanding. There are two extensive wine cellars that a worth a visit too.
The Jahaz
This is the restaurant where breakfast is served every morning. You’re welcomed by courteous staff that take you to the table of your choice. The buffet style breakfast offers a large choice of hot and cold dishes, fresh bread and pastries, an egg station and a fresh fruit station. If you wish, you can enjoy a glass of sparkling wine to start the day.
Jahaz also serves buffet style themed dinners. While we’re not great fans of buffets for dinner, the quality, taste and freshness of every dish is outstanding. We enjoyed the Indian and Middle East buffet and our favorite, the seafood buffet. On other weekdays, you can sample South East Asian, Italian, Japanese and European Cuisine.
The Jing
The Jing is the gastronomic à la carte restaurant located overwater in the middle of the jetty. It serves light asian- inspired cuisine with a european twist. The setting is stunning whether you eat inside or outside. Dine outside and you’ll see reef sharks swimming in the lit up water below.
The Meeru
Meeru is the beach grill restaurant. It offers a wide choice of fish and meat while you eat with your feet in the sand.
Constance Halaveli – Surroundings
The pictures speak for themselves: Pristine. Immaculate. Divine.
Constance Halaveli – Activities
We didn’t experience the Fitness Centre or the Spa on purpose. When you’re in a stunning place like the Maldives, we find it a waste of time to lock yourself in. Hence no review on these. What we did experience though is the traditional sunset fishing. Although we were booked on a sunset cruise with champagne and canapés, the stormy weather prevented us from doing so! We were really disappointed but as the sunset cruise only takes place twice a week we had no chance for a retake. So one evening, as the sun sets, we enjoyed a Dhoni ride to a local fishing spot for the traditional sunset fishing.
We shared the boat with only two other guests and the diving center staff. They were very helpful in explaining how the traditional fishing works, hanging the bait on the hook and getting the fish out of the water. It’s really not that easy, but a fun experience for sure. Here’s what I caught:
Constance Kid’s Club
Constance Kid’s Club is open daily from 09.00 to 21.00 and is complimentary for kids ages 4-11. Different activities are offered daily. While we went “sans enfants” to Halaveli this time, our kids still remember the time they had there. And apparently the Kid’s Club still remembers them too:
