After some research on the web, the NH Collection Venezia Palazzo Barocci was our pick for our first trip to Venice (April 2015). We were looking for a modern, centrally located hotel near the Rialto Bridge and the Grand Canal and the NH met all these criteria.
Luxair offers direct seasonal flights to Venice from Luxembourg. After 1h20 we landed at Venice Marco Polo airport from where we followed the covered walkway for about 7 minutes until we reached the dock. From there, we boarded the Vaporetto Alilaguna Linea Arancio. After approx. one hour we got off at the Sant’Angelo stop. The hotel is only 15 metres on the right facing the Canal. Easy peasy!
The NH Collection Venezia Palazzo Barocci was formerly the ancient Sant’Angelo theatre (1677) where Antonio Vivaldi began his career.
We were greeted with a nice glass of Prosecco. After the check-in formalities, we were taken to the room for a two-nights-stay.
We had a Premium Room with a partial view over the Grand Canal. The 20sqm room was furnished in a contemporary yet luxurious style. Two characteristics which are not easy to come by when looking for a hotel in Venice. Also, if you are traveling with kids, the NH Collection Venezia Palazzo Barocci has connecting rooms available.
The bathroom was tiny, but nicely laid out. We especially liked the rain-effect shower.
The breakfast buffet offered a great choice of freshly prepared fruit juices, pastries, cold cuts, fruits, yogurts…Hot dishes are made to order on request.
The terrace is without a doubt another great added value to the hotel. Whether for breakfast or a nice cocktail at night this cosy place is truly special.
