The five star Hotel Le Place d’Armes Luxembourg is located in the heart of the City. The capital’s main attractions are within walking distance from the hotel, so definitely a place to consider when visiting Luxembourg. If you arrive by car, park in one of the city parkings or drive up to the hotel where the Valet will take care of it.
The hotel is very atypical. The facade is not larger than a normal house, but the hotel comprises seven different houses that were put together to offer 16 rooms and 12 suites. The architect has done an amazing job in merging the houses, creating a lot of little cosy places, on half levels. Le Place d’Armes is a member of “Relais & Châteaux”.
The Executive room at the Hotel Le Place d’Armes Luxembourg
After a quick checkin, we were escorted to our room. Every room is unique in size and style. We had an executive room, room 34 to be precise, located just under the roof on the third floor. As you will see, the room is out of the ordinary, mixing old style with very modern touches. The high pyramidal ceiling with the exposed beams gives an impression of volume and space.
A very modern bathroom has been implemented in the center, in a glass cube. Of course you have curtains for privacy, but we kept them open to reinforce the impression of space. Slippers and bathrobes are provided, as well as all amenities you may need during your stay. The room was very charming. But why continue this description? The pictures we did will speak for themselves.
The Bathroom
And one last picture of the entire room and ceiling just because we can’t get enough of it…
“Perfection” Hotel Le Place d’Armes Luxembourg
As we said, every room is unique and we had the opportunity to visit a few other rooms and suites. Three different views are possible. One suite comes with a view on the place d’Armes, but it’s the only one so if you are interested, make sure to book early. The two other options are views on the courtyard and the grand rue. One of these suites features an impressive rooftop terrace. Kids are welcome at Le Place d’Armes. Some suites can accommodate families, but again, as they are limited, make sure to book early.
The Common areas at the Hotel Le Place d’Armes Luxembourg
As mentioned before, the rest of the hotel is characterised by small hidden areas. At the lower level you’ll find meeting rooms, a small fitness where a sports coach and a massage therapist are available on request, and a wine cellar with a tasting area. The architecture is beautiful, mixing the original stone walls with modern design furnitures and pieces of art.
There are many food options around the Place d’Armes. But the hotel, despite its size, features three restaurants. La Cristallerie is a one Michelin star restaurant run by chef Fabrice Salvador. Located on the first floor, la Cristallerie offers a cosy chic decor with a great view on the Place d’Armes. It also has a private dining room for business meetings paired with gastronomic food.
Le Plëss is located on the ground floor and is the gastronomic brasserie. It recently reopened after being completely redesigned by the famous French architect Tristan Auer. We had the chance to be invited to the opening, and you will find much more details about Le Plëss on our dedicated post here. Thirdly, Le Café de Paris, next door, where you can enjoy traditional French cuisine, with the possibility to sit on a shaded terrace during summer time.
Le Salon
As soon as we laid our eyes on this place, we fell in love. The decor, the calm, the little fire place…the whole atmosphere gives a feeling of serenity. Naturally, it was here that we spend most of the time when we were not in the room. We enjoyed some delicious tapas with champagne and the next morning we had a last coffee before checking out.
Breakfast at the Hotel Le Place d’Armes Luxembourg
Breakfast is served at Le Plëss and was amazing as the ingredients were of excellent quality. You will find everything on a small buffet, from smoked salmon or iberico ham, to French pastries. For the eggs, just order them your style and the chef will prepare them at the minute. Beside the classic hot beverages, you can enjoy a glass of Mathes Crémant, as well as a freshly squeezed orange or grapefruit juice, which were delicious. We always give a lot of importance to the breakfast and Le Plëss breakfast definitely impressed by the quality of ingredients used.
Its central location, its charming- luxurious rooms and the quality of service, make Le Place d’Armes the best place to stay for visiting Luxembourg City or simply for a romantic getaway with your loved one. Le Place d’Armes is not just any hotel, it’s a welcoming home with character, second to none. We’ll be back!
