For many reasons, it is always a pleasure to fly with Emirates. And so, we flew Emirates Economy Class again on our trip around the world from Dubai to Perth. First of all, we love Dubai airport and the Emirates terminal.
The checkin runs smoothly and there is no queue at security as most of the passengers are just in transit. The terminal is spacious and luxurious, offering a large choice of restaurants and shops. Emirates staff is available everywhere and state of the art equipment help you find your way. Just scan your boarding pass or browse for what you are looking for and you will see the path on the screen.
If you’re traveling with young children and they get tired, don’t worry. Just pick up one of the free strollers at your disposal and leave it at your gate or in the arrival hall.
Our flight to Perth was operated by a Boeing 777-300ER. The cabin is spacious, the pitch of the seat is great for economy class and the cabin crew is friendly and professional.
Emirates Economy Class
You will find a pillow and a blanket on your seat and the Emirates onboard magazine “Open Skies” in the seat pocket. Not to forget the amenity kit with eyeshades, socks and toothbrush.
Unlike many airlines nowadays, kids get a gift after boarding. The youngest will get a with a cuddy toy with a blanket, while older kids get a backpack containing a Dr. Seuss book, an agenda and funny eyeshades.
A menu describing the 3 courses meal is distributed, giving a choice of two main courses. Alcohol is free of charge, only to raise a glass of Champagne, you will have to pay 15 US$. The quality of food is really good for economy class, tasty without being dry.
Now comes the best part, the entertainment system. It is just fantastic, whether your are an adult or a child.
The screen is huge, bigger than an ipad and of top- notch resolution. The choice is impressive, may it be movies, series, music or games.
With a lot of cartoon movies, Disney classics and games, kids will stay busy, giving the parents a break.
Pros and cons
+ professional and friendly service
+ huge network all over the world
+ outstanding entertainment system
+ little presents for the kids
– depending on where you go, the stopover in Dubai to switch aircraft may be at an unfriendly time ( often in the middle of the night disrupting your sleep)
