After a week at Constance Belle Mare Plage, we were looking forward to staying at Constance Le Prince Maurice. It would be our fifth stay and we were wondering if it’s still up to par. Le Prince Maurice is settled in an 60 hectares private peninsula on the northeast coast of Mauritius.
Constance Le Prince Maurice – The Arrival
The Arrival at Prince Maurice is really special and lets you imagine what the rest of your stay will be like. While we were approaching the resort, an impressive gate is opened for us. 2 minutes later we arrived at the hotel, car doors were opened, luggage was taken care of and we were being seated in the beautiful lobby area with a view on the infinity pool. We just handed our passports and the holidays could begin. They served us a drink and handed ice cold towels.
We appreciated to be personally welcomed by the General Manager, Mr. Christophe Plantier, who is leading the resort since 2009.

Constance Le Prince Maurice – The Suite
In the past, traveling as a family of four was no obstacle to staying in a Junior Suite at Le Prince Maurice. But this time they made us book two Suites. I don’t really know why this was the case now, but I think at ages 5 and 7 you don’t really need a 70 square metres Suite for yourself. But as we really wanted to experience the hotel again, we had no other choice than to book 2 Suites. They have recently added 12 Family Suites that have a children’s room with bunk beds and a specially designed bathroom for the kids. As we’re always booking last minute and with ongoing school holidays, these were unfortunately sold out.
The Suites are beautifully decorated in a wooden Mauritian style. All Suites have a large balcony or terrace, making it a perfect spot for champagne after a day at the beach. The spacious marble bathroom has a double vanity and bathtub and a powerful shower.

Constance Le Prince Maurice – The Grounds
The grounds are beautiful and nothing is left to chance. Everything has been planned in detail like the lighting, the water points and decoration. There’s no way of not falling in love with the hotel. And as soon as the sun sets, everything takes yet again another magical perspective.
Constance Le Prince Maurice – The Restaurants
Le Barachois
Le Barachois is located in the mangrove on stilts and is specialized in seafood. Follow the path over water to reach one of the 8 floating decks. The ambiance is really one of a kind, an experience not to be missed. Watch out for Johnny the friendly shark.
L’Archipel
L’Archipel is the main restaurant offering a buffet style breakfast and à la carte dinner or themed evening. There’s always a wide range of choice pleasing kids and adults alike. The wine list is extensive and the resort sommeliers will make sure that you get exactly what you wish for. Ask for a glass of Klein Constantia with your dessert, it’s our favorite!

After our short stay we’re happy to say that Le Prince Maurice remains one of our favorite hotels in the world. It’s hard to find a hotel that equals with accomodation, food and service at this level. Le Prince Maurice is really outstanding in every way and we hope to be back anytime soon!
