While planning our trip to Lisbon, we stumbled upon an internet site that offered guided tours of Lisbon by Segway. As Lisbon is quite hilly and when the temperature rises above 30 degrees, we get a bit…lazy. Plus, we didn’t have the kiddos with us this time…
So why not move around the city on a Segway? We booked a tour with Lisbon By Segway and shortly after, we got the confirmation by email. They offer several tours in different languages. We opted for the Medieval Tour in English.
If you have never riden a Segway before, don’t worry. The trip will start with an introduction on the Segway, how to drive it, what to do, what not to do etc…
Our guide Simoneta was very kind and professional in doing that. The tour starts in a calm street where everybody has the chance to practice the basic manœuvres like moving around, stopping or climbing a sidewalk.
After this warm up, the real stuff begins.
We were only 6 in our group so it was easy to stick together.
First stop was Commerce Square, were Simoneta gave some historical informations.
Lisbon by Segway
Then we continued through Alfama quarter and went up to the Miradouro da Graça where the view over Lisboa is just amazing.
Back down behind the tram 28, past the Cathedral where we ended up on a terrace to get an ice cold beer, much appreciated in this sunny and hot weather.
Affordable, Efficient and Fun!
We can’t wait to go for a Segway ride again to visit a city: affordable, efficient way to go from point to point, fun to drive.
