Foreword: the Radisson Blu Resort Split is divided in two parts, an old and a new part which has been completely refurbished 6 years ago. So when you book, make sure to book a room in the new part. The old one is really old fashioned and unless that’s the kind of accommodation you’re looking for, will most probably disappoint you.
We stayed at the Radisson Blu Resort Split for one night during our Croatian road trip. Difficult then to make an extensive review of all the facilities, but let’s try to give you a glimpse.
The Radisson Blu Resort Split is located 5 minutes by car from the city center. The check- in was fast and professional and we found the staff to be friendly and willing to help.
Deluxe Room with Sea View
The room is modern and bright. The bed and pillows are of excellent quality and we had a great night of sleep. There’s a large balcony with a panoramic view on the Adriatic sea. The bathroom is quite big with a bath tub and has nice “thisworks®” amenities.
The Door Bar
We arrived at the end of the afternoon, so after relaxing a bit in the room, we headed to the bar to have a drink before dinner. The bar and two restaurants are located on a large deck with panoramic views on the sea. With the nice temperature and no wind, it was the perfect spot to have a glass of Champagne and a Cocktail while admiring the sunset.
The Restaurants
The Radisson Blu Resort Split offers a large buffet style dinner at the Fig Leaf Restaurant, but we chose the à la carte restaurant, the Caper Grill. We had a table just on the edge of the terrace where the glass fence allows to enjoy 100% of the seaview.
We opted for an assorted plate of Croatian entrees, followed by a delicious sea bass grilled on charcoals and a crème brûlée. The Croatian white wine suggested by our waiter Boris was the perfect pairing. The staff was friendly and professional, giving nice explanations about Croatian food and wine. Really a great evening!
The breakfast buffet, included in the room rate, offers a fair choice of food. Waiting time for the egg station was a bit too long in our opinion. You can chose to sit inside or outside on the large terrace. The coffee from the pot was surprisingly good! Normally we don’t drink that kind of coffee because it tastes more like colored water. But here the quality and strength were perfect!
Pool and Spa
Unfortunately, we had no time to try the pool, the fitness or the sauna. The outside pool especially looked very inviting! Also, we didn’t visit the hotel beach. We’ll have to come back one day!
What we enjoyed the most:
• Food and Service at the Caper Grill
• Panoramic Views
• Great help from the Concierge Staff
What is improvable:
• no complimentary water in the room
• old part of the hotel not consistent with the new part / leads to confusions when booking and checking in
Tips:
• Book a Deluxe Room with Sea View and ask for a high floor
