Sofitel Munich Bayerpost is located right next to the main train station. After landing at Munich airport, we took the Lufthansa Shuttle bus which stops at the train station. After 3 minutes walking, we were in the hotel lobby. The fascinating building housed the Bavarian Post Office until 1993. We checked in quite early and because there was no junior suite available yet and as an Accor Gold member, we were upgraded to a Duplex Junior Suite.
Sofitel Munich Bayerpost – Hotel Lobby
The hotel lobby is spacious and was beautifully decorated for Christmas. The Concierge team can assist you with sightseeing tours, restaurant reservations or any kind of tickets. If you’re traveling to Munich with kids they will be happy to organize a babysitter.
Sofitel Munich Bayerpost – The Duplex Junior Suite
The Duplex Junior Suite is a fashionable little city maisonette apartment of 40sqm in Munich’s lively center. It’s the perfect choice if you are traveling to Munich with your kids. The little ones can sleep on the sofa bed while a MyBed awaits the adults on the first floor of the Suite. There’s a separate toilet on the kids floor. The room features a Bose sound system and a Nespresso machine.
Sofitel Munich Bayerpost – Upper Floor of the Duplex Suite
The two- story windows of the Suite are really impressive. Our Suite, on the last floor of the hotel, offered a great view of the Munich skyline and train station. A room facing the other side would have granted us a view on the Alps. The thing we really missed in the room, was a bath tub. After walking around a city for the whole day nothing beats a hot bath! Also, the bathroom was extremely small and not very handy. There was no space to put your clothes or your toilet kit.
Sofitel Munich Bayerpost – Pool and Spa
The pool is really one of a kind. It is like a cave with many corners and quite dark. The water is at a nice temperature. Only drawback is that there is nowhere you can sit and relax by the pool. If you want to watch your kids while they swim, you’ll have to be in the water. There’s a Sauna (naked), a steam bath and a nice relaxation room. The fitness is minimalist, but enough to have a run on a treadmill. Be advised that So Spa is only open for kids before 5pm.
Sofitel Munich Bayerpost – ISArBAR
After a long day of sightseeing, we spent a relaxed evening in the bar and honestly, we got one of the best services ever. We ordered Champagne and juices for the kids as well as some light food. Despite his young age the waiter was very professional, from taking the order, advising, serving the drinks (2006 Moët et Chandon), politeness… A real pleasure!
