5 weeks off during Summer 2015? This could only mean one thing:
Let’s fly around the world!
We only knew on July 18th that the Mr. was granted 5 weeks off from work! That’s when we started looking at the world map to set up our trip. Thinking of where we had been in the past and what we wanted to see, we drew a line from Luxembourg to Dubai, Perth, Sydney, Honolulu, Seattle, Vancouver, Orlando and back. We wanted to fly as much as possible on standby (discount tickets for airline employees) This means that just before the flight closes, they count the remaining available seats in the airplane. If there are enough seats, you board – not enough seats, you stay and set up new plans.
We left Luxembourg on the 2nd of August. When we looked at how to go from Luxembourg to Dubai, we figured out that we had the best chances via Zurich with Swiss. Luxembourg-Zurich was our first leg, and here already we were lucky as we got the last four seats! Arriving in Zurich, we moved to the next gate, where an Emirates Boeing 777 was supposed to fly us to Dubai during the night…
