With the rising temperatures in Luxembourg the last days, a place to cool off is highly appreciated. If you are looking for a nice site to take the kids, you should check out the Remerschen lakes. From Luxembourg City, it takes about 35 minutes to reach the town of Remerschen.

Where to park at the Remerschen Lakes?
Along Breicherwee or Wisswee are plenty of parking spaces, although it can be difficult to find a spot on high attendance days.
The entrance fee is 4€, children below 10 are free. If you arrive after 6pm, entrance is free. The installations are rather basic and most of the ground consists of pebble/rocks. Some spots feature sand which is convenient for the beach umbrella. Unfortunately there isn’t much shade on the 130ha areal so it is really recommended to bring an umbrella or a tent, especially with babies and kids.
There are two lakes. One for the little ones where the depths is 0,80m or less and the “big lake” which can be 6m deep. The water temperature is great, even for someone like me who rarely takes a dip because it’s always too cold.
The bigger lake features an inflatable structure. Our kids had a lot of fun and were lucky enough to use it for almost two hours. Access is 2€ (limited to 20 minutes in case of high attendance) and they provide a life jacket.
The children lake has two slides, water fountains and a playground.
There is a restaurant/bar on the site but you can of course bring your own food and drinks. Although it would definitely be nice, barbecuing is prohibited.
Before you go to the Remerschen Lakes:
• Bring a beach umbrella or tent
• Take drinks and snacks
• Don’t forget sunscreen
• If you don’t want to sit/lay on the ground, bring a beach chair or an inflatable mattress
• Wear water shoes if you have sensible feet
If you are looking for a nice place to eat 2 minutes from the Remerschen lakes, we can recommend le Bistrot Gourmand. Their summer terrace is really cosy, they have children menus and the food is nice. As the restaurant is very popular, you’d better book in advance! And in case you are too drunk tired to drive home, you can stay in a family room at the Youth Hostel in Remerschen. Entrance to the Lakes will be free 🙂
