Luxembourg City Promenade for Kids

If you are planning to visit Luxembourg, we highly recommend the Luxembourg City Promenade for Kids. It is a great introduction to our city and its main sights like the Palace of the Grand Dukes, the Golden Lady or the Bock promontory. Since 2015, the Luxembourg City tourist office offers this guided or self-guided tour specially aimed at families with children.

Luxembourg City Promenade for Kids – What to expect:

Starting point for the walk is the City Tourist Office on Place Guillaume II, where you’ll be given a leaflet including a map and information on the different sights in English, French or German. As you follow the directions to the different sights, your kids will have to answer 11 questions in order to find out the correct code that will open the safe. Make sure to bring a pen! Once you have completed the tour and answered the questions correctly, you can go back to the tourist office where the kids can enter the code into the safe keypad and discover the surprise.

On a beautiful Saturday afternoon, we took the opportunity to do the promenade with A and C. Although the kids are already familiar with the sights, they enjoyed reading/listening to the information included in the leaflet and were eager to find the right answers to the questions.

Luxembourg City Promenade for Kids – What we think:

Whether you are a local or just visiting, the Luxembourg City Promenade for Kids is a fun way to learn more about the ancient fortress city. It is particularly interesting for school- aged kids as they can be totally involved in this adventure. You should allow at least 2,5 hours to complete the tour. Everyone in the family enjoyed a few hours exploring and discovering the city from another angle.

C: “The best part was when the safe opened after having entered the right code.”
A:  “It was exciting to follow the map to the different sights and looking for the right answers. And finding out what was hiding in the safe!”
