A stopover at the family friendly Novotel Munich Airport |

After our vacation in Bali that ended up in hospital (see the post from April 15 2018 on our Facebook Page), we finally made it to Munich early in the morning. We were only one flight hour away from home, but we were facing a new problem: all Luxair and Lufthansa flights to Luxembourg were full, it was impossible to buy a ticket, even in full fare business class. So we decided that, instead of a six- hour drive, the most reasonable was to stay at a hotel to rest and fly home the next morning. The most convenient would have been the Hilton located directly at the airport, but as their stated rate was ridiculously high (probably to avoid families), we decided to go to the Novotel Munich Airport.

The hotel is close to the airport and you can either take a public bus (1,5 € / runs every 20 minutes) or a taxi for 13€. The drive is less than 10 minutes. We booked the hotel by phone with a very efficient operator. We arrived at the hotel at 10am, and although the official check in time is at 3pm, they gave us the room. This is just one of the perks of being a Club Accor member. Another benefit was getting a complimentary upgrade to an Executive room.

The Novotel Munich airport interior is really nice and modern. Besides the front desk, you’ll find the bar and the restaurant the Flave of Munich. And like in many Novotel hotels, a kids play area.

The Executive room was really spacious, with a King bed for adults and a sofa bed for the kids. The perfect place to rest until our flight the next day. The room had everything we needed, be it the amenities in the bathroom plus a Nespresso coffee machine.

Last but not least, if you qualify, you can get access to the lounge, where you can relax while having a complimentary coffee or a soft drink.

The Flave of Munich at Novotel Munich Airport

Worth to mention is the on site restaurant called “The Flave of Munich”. We had a quick dinner, but the highlight was the breakfast. Our flight was early and normally we are too sleepy to eat, but this time, the jet lag worked in our favour. The breakfast was really nice. You could find everything, even a live egg cooking station. No need to describe it in more details as the pictures allow you to judge yourself.

So if you ever have a layover in Munich, we can highly recommend the Novotel Munich Airport, for the flexibility and professionalism of the Accor group in general, the comfortable room, the family friendliness, the proximity to the airport and the excellent value for money if you take the package including breakfast.
