Hotel Mercure Iguazu Iru – A peaceful retreat in the middle of the nature

The summer 2016 trip kicked off at the amazing waterfalls of Iguazu. Although we landed in Brazil, we decided to stay on the Argentinian side of the falls at the Hotel Mercure Iguazu Iru. The reason for this is that the hotels in Argentina generally looked more inviting and classy than the brazilians, but they are also more expensive.

The recently built hotel is located in the heart of the Iryapu jungle about 10 minutes from the center of Iguazu and 20 minutes from the Argentinian International airport (IGR). The lobby is spacious and adjacent to the bar and restaurant. The hotel is nicely designed to fit in the natural setting of the jungle.

Hotel Mercure Iguazu Iru – The Room

The room is modern and comfortable with a cozy lighting. The bathroom is well laid out and provides plenty of towels and amenities. The balcony offers a nice view on the swimming pool located in the middle of the lush forest. Internet is fast and reliable everywhere in the hotel.

Hotel Mercure Iguazu Iru – Pool and Spa

The pool is nestled in the middle of the hotel’s garden and you just want to jump in. But as we were in the middle of the winter, the water was way too cold. In addition, even the Jaccuzi is not heated, which was disappointing. The place is so beautiful, that we would gladly have stayed longer if we had visited during summer.  We had no time to try the Spa, but it seemed quite nice, with a whirlpool overlooking the pool.

Hotel Mercure Iguazu Iru – The Restaurant

Since the hotel is a bit isolated, you need a taxi if you want to eat outside. But there is a nice restaurant on site serving delicious steaks at a very reasonnable price.
Their breakfast is good as well with a fair choice of food. You also have the option to eat on a terrace outside.

We really liked the Hotel Mercure Iguazu Iru because of its convenient location to the Iguazu falls and the peaceful, somehow magical atmosphere that reigns here.
